Financial Support

Financial support relevant to prospective Indigenous research students studying a health-related field.

As an Indigenous PhD student, you are guaranteed to receive an annual stipend ($A31 200 per year, 2020 tax free pro rata for full-time students). This is a significant contribution towards your living and study expenses. In addition, we work with you to explore other scholarships or work opportunities. More details can be found here

The annual stipend is the base level of support available for Indigenous graduate researchers. To help you succeed, we will ensure you have a tailored support package that suits your needs. Additional support may come from other University scholarships, residential college scholarships or other supports from external organisations.

Murrup Barak – Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development administers the whole of University Indigenous scholarships and more details can be found at https://murrupbarak.unimelb.edu.au/study/current-students/advice-and-support

From time to time, project specific scholarship opportunities will also be posted on this page.
