Poche Indigenous Health Leadership Program

The Melbourne Poche Indigenous Health Leadership Program is an exciting opportunity to explore your leadership potential and affect change in Indigenous health.

Designed for Indigenous early career professionals with a health focus in academic, policy, clinical or research roles, across higher education, government, health service and community sectors.

It's an opportunity to broaden your ideas of leadership and networking.

How it works

The program brings Fellows together in a richly interconnected and interactive program to support the development of Indigenous health leaders.

We aim to elevate and progress disciplinary and industry engagement in Indigenous health, by fusing age-old Indigenous knowledges and values, with political and social theories to develop Fellows’ confidence, self-efficacy, motivation and sense of purpose.

Each module will reflect a theme and will be delivered across a range of contexts to foster engagement, collaboration and leadership diversity:

  1. Futures – Storying Indigenous health leadership and philosophy
  2. Place – Positioning Indigenous health leadership globally
  3. Relationships – Harnessing local Indigenous health leadership

The Program supports participating Fellows to

  • Develop an understanding of Indigenous leadership philosophies
  • Develop a greater awareness of their own leadership potential
  • Learn new insights and approaches to improving Indigenous health outcomes
  • Participate in building richer, stronger and more diverse networks across the health sector
  • Develop a personal leadership narrative to support confidence, improved visibility, influence and agency
  • Extend intellectual development and understanding of Indigenous health leadership discourse, models and theories
