POCHE National Network Meeting, Melbourne 2016
The 2016 POCHE Indigenous Health Network National Meeting was held on Wednesday 10 August - Friday 12 August . Participants, including PhD Familiarisation program participants, had opportunity to make connections with Indigenous academic and health leaders from the various member universities. Components of the Network Meeting included:
- Advancing Indigenous Scholarship Dinner to celebrate the success of the second annual Melbourne Poche PhD Familiarisation Program.
- Keynote and panel themed about the role of Indigenous leadership in Indigenous health (videos below.)
- Cultural and historical tour of Healesville and Coranderrk.

on the Emerging Aboriginal Leaders Panel.
Leadership For What? Critical Possibilities and Tensions in Indigenous Leadership
Associate Professor Michelle Evans examines the practices, impact, uses and dangers of Indigenous leadership. Michelle is Associate Professor in Leadership at Charles Sturt University, she is a Fellow at Melbourne Business School and Fellow of the Research Centre for Leadership in Action at New York University. The address was delivered to the POCHE Indigenous Health Network at the 2016 National Network Meeting hosted by the University of Melbourne.
Emerging Aboriginal Leaders Panel
An interactive panel discussion with emerging Aboriginal leaders with diverse experiences and perspectives about leadership, from the human biosciences to sociology to anthropology. The audience had opportunity to discuss critical issues about leadership as it relates to the present and future health of Indigenous Australians.
