About the Festival

The Melbourne Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, along with the Poche Indigenous Health Network welcomes abstract submissions for the 2018 Festival of Health Research for Indigenous PhDs and Post-Docs.

Centred around the theme of Indigenous health leadership, the Festival will provide an opportunity for Indigenous research students and post-docs to showcase their work and develop academic skills, all within a supportive cohort environment.

The Festival will include the following sessions:

Welcome to Country
Opening Address: Professor Shaun Ewen (Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous, UniMelb)
Fireside Chat: The Growing Indigenous Academy with Professor Sandra Eades (UniMelb), Professor Papaarangi Reid (University of Auckland) and Dr Chelsea Bond (University of Queensland)
15 minute Student Presentations
Poster discussions during lunch
Reclaiming Indigenous space at the frontier of health research
Chenoa Cassidy-Matthews (PhD student at the University of British Columbia)
Closing Address
Networking Function

Academic skills workshops are being planned for the morning of 22 November with further details announced soon.

Registrations

Complimentary registrations will be open up until 16 November 2018. We encourage other Indigenous early career researchers, Indigenous students and anyone interested in Indigenous health research to attend.
