Jacob is a proud Worimi man, born and raised on Palawa Country, Tasmania.

Jacob is employed as an Indigenous Fellow Academic Development in the School of Social Work and Sociology. He has previously worked for the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Research and Leadership at the University of Tasmania, and as the Aboriginal Men's Program Coordinator, Social Worker, Aboriginal Health Worker and Acting-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Association (NATSHIWA).

Jacob is completing his PhD in Social Work and Sociology. His research topic is Aboriginal men's health and fathering, specifically looking at the effects of Bush Adventure Therapy on the wellbeing of Aboriginal men in Southern Tasmania. He is particularly interested in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal men, Aboriginal fathers, factors that contribute to Aboriginal children growing up strong, Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Aboriginal Health Workers.

Jacob is a director of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Association (NATSHIWA), National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) Tas Division Representative and sits on the Mayi Kuwayu (MK) Study Data Governance Committee.
