Dr Amy Searle is a proud Kamilaroi yinarr, mother and final year medical student at the University of Melbourne (UoM). She has a particular passion for jarjum (child) health and hopes to join the Paediatric training program after completing internship.

Throughout her medical degree, Amy has been a strong advocate for her fellow First Nations students. She was the inaugural First Nations Officer for the UoM Medical Students Society, as well as the UoM Doctor of Medicine Student Conference. Currently, she is in her second term as the UoM representative on the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association’s Student Council.

Prior to commencing her medical degree, Amy pursued a pre-clinical PhD at the Baker Institute, where she investigated the thrombo-inflammatory axis of cardiovascular diseases. She received the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences award for Indigenous Thesis Excellence for her research.
