Janet is a Yidinji-Jirrbal woman of Far North Queensland who grew up in Brisbane. Janet is an early career researcher with background experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health as an Aboriginal Health Worker, in program management, policy, and research roles within the Aboriginal community controlled, public, not for profit and higher education sectors.

Janet is undertaking a Doctor in Philosophy at the University of Queensland (UQ) Faculty of Medicine and is preparing to submit in early 2024. Her doctoral research is focussed on bringing greater recognition of the work and understanding concepts of ‘health’ and ‘health care’ of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners in urban Southeast Queensland.

She also works in a full-time senior research assistant role for the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health and is a Professional Ambassador for the National Association of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners (NAATSIHWP).
