Simone is a project officer on the Study of Environment on Aboriginal Resilience and Child Health (SEARCH) project based at the Sax Institute, where she has worked for the past 8 years. Her PhD is investigating healthy weight status and protective factors against child obesity among urban Aboriginal children and adolescents, and the barriers to food security in urban Aboriginal communities in NSW.

Simone has experience working in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector in NSW, in Aboriginal health research and in the implementation of services and programs relating to

  • ear health
  • speech and language development
  • knowledge translation
  • co-creation
  • child obesity
  • and food security in urban Aboriginal communities.

Simone was the first person in her family to go to University and has completed a Graduate Diploma of Indigenous Health Promotion and a Master of Public Health at the University of Sydney. Simone holds a Turner PhD scholarship through the Charles Perkins Centre, the University of Sydney.
