Mark Gutchen
2026 Fellow
Mark Gutchen is of both of Meriam descent of the Eastern Islands (Torres Strait) and KuKu Yanji descent of Cape York Peninsula. Mark is graduate of La Trobe University (Bendigo) and has over 30yrs of nursing experience, in regional and remote area healthcare setting’s predominately within Indigenous Health.
Over the last 15yrs, Mark has spent considerable time nursing in the Pilbara, Kimberly, Goldfield’s regions in Western Australia, and most recently the Barkly region (Northern Territory) and prior to that top end Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and earlier in his nursing career Cape York and Torres Strait Island communities.
Mark’s nursing carers have consisted of various roles in primary healthcare, programme management and community development health roles. Mark as 2026 Poche Fellow wishes to share his nursing experience with fellow participants, which includes receiving their expert knowledge and their collective healthcare stories.
